Abstract
In this paper the problem of supplying an isolated utilization is considered. In particular, the attention is given to high altitude users, like mountain hut or alp farm. In this type of applications renewable energy has been adopted since 25 years, when the interest for this energy source was not so big as nowadays. However, this applications are very particular and no standard solutions are needed in order to make them self-contained. After the description of the peculiarities of this type of installation some solutions of the energy supplying problems are introduced. Typically, the energy supplying involves not only electrical energy, but also thermal energy for heating. Both this aspect are considered in the paper. Finally, on the basis of authors experience, a real example is reported and the various solutions are described.
