Abstract
A new technique for improving the input impedance matching of a dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) fed by a microstripline is investigated. The input impedance of the DRA can easily be matched. The configuration has the merit of low backlobe radiation and simple structure for antenna arrays. Moreover, it has relatively wide bandwidth of 19% in comparison with the conventional aperture coupled DRA that has only 6-7% impedance bandwidth.
