  • Abstract
This paper proposed modeling for magnetic characteristic analysis of IPM-type BLDC motor of inter turn fault using winding function theory (WFT). Inter-turn fault (ITF) causes significant changes in electric and magnetic characteristic. So many studies on inter-turn fault have been performed by FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation because of non-linear characteristic. However, it is difficult to apply to on-line fault detection system because processing time of FEM is specially very-long. So the winding functions and inductance variation under inter-turn faults are calculated by winding function theory. Also, magnetic characteristic of inter-turn fault is verified by the FEM simulation.
