  • Abstract
    IRCTR has developed and built a novel design of a stepped frequency continuous wave radar for humanitarian demining. The radar has the important property that it transmits signals at eight frequencies at the same time. Due to this fact and the use of a DDS for the basic signal generation, the total data acquisition time for collecting a set of data sufficient for one synthesized range profile is only 3.3 msec. The total bandwidth of the system is 4445 MHz. The electrical performance allows for sidelobes in the synthesized range profile of better than -50 dB RMS. The bistatic antennas are Archimedean spirals with dual arms. They are balanced and symmetrically fed. The paper shows the diagram of the prototype of the antenna.
