  • Abstract
Electronic circuit designers building the power inductors for highly volume markets such as mobile information device face a difficult dilemma. Handset designers need choke coils for power supply circuits capable of supporting the higher operating currents used to deliver the phone with new functionality. Phone designs are becoming increasingly smaller and thinner hence choke coils small enough to fit within the phone´s shrinking footprint are needed. In order to solve this problem and achieve the high performance with smaller size of the inductor, multilayer power choke inductor with metal powder has been successfully developed. This paper presents this new type power choke inductor using both new metal powder materials and multilayering process .
