Abstract
In VoIP services over heterogeneous networks the values of network parameters, such as packet loss rate, delay and delay jitter are generally unavailable. As a result, ensuring QoS by means of reliable call routing is impaired. In this paper we report on the development of a network conditions estimator, based on the analysis and classification of the received speech signal. The developed system was tested in a variety of network and traffic conditions. It correctly detects network conditions at an average rate of 68%.
