Abstract
For Otto cycle internal combustion engines, the so-called ignition plate is a device linking together the function of the conventional head gasket with the task of conventional spark plugs. Several gaps at the periphery of the combustion chamber can lead to lower fuel consumption. All gaps of a combustion chamber must ignite at the same time. In order to achieve this, Plaksin used diodes in serial connection (reverse direction) to the gaps. In this way, he achieved a decrease of fuel consumption in a test engine of approximately 20%. This work shows that these diodes give the optical impression of a simultaneous ignition, but real simultaneous ignition is not achieved. Other concepts to achieve simultaneous ignition are investigated
