Abstract
Proposes a prototype for a universal object-oriented model of a health care system in a fashion similar to the object-oriented approach used for development in version 3.0 of the HL7 standard for communication messages. In our model, all participants of the health care system are described as belonging to one of the object classes Patient, Medical Provider, Medical Knowledge Base and Medical Insurance, along with their associations, attributes and operators. These superclasses are further divided into more specific subclasses. We have also selected two major independent processes within medical services: Cure and Billing/Payment. This model is intended to supplement the HL7 standard. Individual HL7 models may be used as functional and dynamic subsystems describing particular relationships among health care system objects, introduced in the presented model
