Abstract
This paper describes the energy minimization process of the longitudinal profile between two metro station platforms. Two algorithms are discussed: the genetic algorithms (GAs) with the profile coding process, and the Hook and Jeeves (H&J) direct search algorithm. GAs is a novelty for subway tunnel profile optimization. The results show that GAs perform better than the H&J algorithm
