Abstract
The boracite family has attracted the attention of researchers for more than 200 years not only due to its peculiar physical properties but because these compounds display unusual property coefficients including a large figure of merit for IR detection and pyroelectric applications. The purpose of this brief paper is to point out some of the main characteristics of this family that make them potential candidates for a certain number of applications
