Abstract
This paper analyzed the no load air gap flux density waveform of surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) and then proposed a new method to improve the air gap flux density waveform. Multiple permanent magnets are adopted as a main pole for motor instead of a single one, and the mathematical model to eliminate the harmonics is derived. According to the mathematical model, a PMSM finite element simulation model is created, the FEA results show this method is useful to improve the flux density and reduce its high harmonic components.
