  • Abstract
A bacterial strain was obtained through the screening experiments of decomposition of phenol, which had high degradability for phenol and was named P-1. The gene sequence obtained from the DNA extraction and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification was compared with NCBI Genbank of U.S.A., and the strain was preliminary identified to be Rhodococcus sp. The optimum growth conditions were pH 7.0, 30°C, 150 r/min, 30-50 mL/250mL (liquid volumes/flask volumes). When the phenol concentration was above 800 mg/L, P-1´s phenol degradation ratio decreased with the increase of the phenol concentration. The strain had strong adaptability to the environmental conditions, which showed it was a high effective phenol degradation strain and had better application prospects in wastewater treatment.
