  • Abstract
    A key challenge for third generation mobile networks is to incorporate quality of service (QoS) to handle subscriber differentiation and provide a variety of speech, data and multimedia services. The new generation wireless networks are designed to host various applications, which include VoIP, video streaming, video conferencing, broadcast services, web browsing, e-mail, games, SMS, file transfers, etc., and which are characterized by starkly different transfer delays, error rates and other conditions. The cdma2000 standard is well poised to provide a simplified and an elegant solution not only to meet the needs of user perception of end-to-end QoS at the application layer but also to ensure efficient utilization of system resources. The paper presents an overview of the architecture and implementation of an end-to-end QoS for cdma2000 networks.
