Abstract
Emergence of Information technology and its rapid progress hugely influence every aspect of human life in the world; hence IT projects have a particular importance in different countries and organizations implementing IT projects have major role in the matter. Success or failure in an IT project depends on several internal or external factors. In this study, these factors and criteria are examined and determined for a nation-wide IT projects in Iran as a case study. A survey on the performed national IT projects in this case study enables us to analyze the drawbacks and advantages of the process and handling IT projects. Consequently it paves the way to reduce the failure rates of the IT projects in Iran.
