Abstract
We address the issue of joint routing and scheduling in the. context of energy efficiency in ad hoc networks. Previous approaches have focused an determining power optimal routes between source destination pairs in ad hoc networks. We contend that such an approach is unsatisfactory since it ignores the impact of scheduling on network throughput. Our results show that power optimal routes, in general, are not lifetime optimal or throughput optimal.
