Abstract
This paper presents a novel multilayer micro-ring structure suitable to be used as THz emitter or detector. The realization process exploits the self-rolling properties of a suspended InGaAs/GaAs bi-layer obtained by controlled strain release of a thin film from a substrate. Numerical and preliminary experimental results will be presented and discussed. It is demonstrated that the proposed approach is an optimum candidate for the design of very high-frequency resonators.
