Abstract
The paper describes a CORBA based framework for the control and management of multimedia streams. The concepts of streams and flows are introduced, along with the abstractions used for multimedia devices. Examples of usage for point to point and point to multipoint streams are given. The OMG specification describes two profiles for implementers of the framework, a light profile and a full profile. The differences between these profiles are described. The Simple Flow Protocol (SFP) for transporting IDL typed and untyped flows is briefly outlined. Finally, it is shown that the full profile of the OMG stream specification can be used to implement a TINA CSM interface with only minimal changes to TINA-C IDL specifications
