  • Abstract
    While integral control offers the ability to eliminate steady state error, and state space control offers the efficiency to control the damping of a linear system, putting the two together does not necessary mean one obtains a fast, well damped and error free system. This is especially true when the system has to handle setpoints whose rate of change could vary between zero and infinity. This paper presents a universal control scheme, which integrates the two control strategies together. The scheme consists of two parts: (a) an integral controller to eliminate all possible errors; and (b) controller gains at input and feedback so that not only can the scheme perform pole placement, but it can also perform pole/zero cancellation so as to achieve unity transfer function
