  • Abstract
    The influence of load models on the capacitor values used for voltage and/or power factor control is theoretically estimated. A mixture of constant impedance and power loads is studied. Voltage-load variation equations are first derived for the model, and values of capacitors required to get 1.0-pu voltage at the load for mixed loads are obtained. The capacitor values for maintaining unity power factor are also calculated. A general formulation of an accurate distribution feeder load model and efficient analysis and graphs are presented for finding variations in capacitor values required with different mixture load characteristics. Limitations and boundary values are evaluated for a single-distributor section. Complete normalization is used so that the results obtained can be applied to any given situation
