Abstract
Future multi-media wireless communications systems will require high spectral efficiencies, with reduced receiver complexity. MC-CDMA systems using orthogonal spreading codes systems can increase the spectral efficiency while employing low complexity correlation receivers. A major limitation of multi-carrier systems is the potential for a high crest factor. We examine the requirements for reducing the crest factor in multi-carrier systems, and emphasise the benefits of orthogonal codes for correlation detectors. Our results demonstrate the effectiveness of orthogonal codes in reducing the crest factor while providing low complexity receiver solutions
