  • Abstract
This paper presents two novel formulations of the Cauchy method: the first one is suitable for microwave filters while the second one can be applied to microwave duplexers. In the filter formulation the characteristic polynomials are generated from the (lossy) measured scattering parameters, allowing the synthesis of a lossless low-pass prototype (and then the evaluation of the coupling matrix of the filter). In the duplexer formulation the modified Cauchy method here proposed produces a reduced-order polynomial model of a lossless duplexer formed by two filters connected at one port through a non-resonant junction. The first method has been verified by employing the measurements of a GSM base station filter; the method for the duplexer has been verified with circuit simulations from a synthesized duplexer
