Abstract
Summary form only given. Large buildings for commercial, educational and residential purposes require a local power plant for air conditioning, elevators and other uses. These power plants are high power transformers with a three phase high voltage input and a low voltage/high current three phase output. These high current outputs generate an intense local magnetic field, above the accepted ICNIRP exposure limits. This paper examines the specific sources of these fields and provides design methods and practical solutions to reduce these fields to an acceptable value in the vicinity of the power plant.
