Abstract
With the rapid increase of modern communication networks, the environmental problem has emerged. Reducing the emission of CO2 has been considered as an important goal in future green communication system design. This paper presents an introduction to the opportunities and challenges in green communication and discusses the key techniques in current research including cognitive networks, network coding and smart grid.
