  • Abstract
On fixed networks communications it is worth to note that the most expensive inversions are on the user local loop more than into the network architecture. Traditionally, the user local loop has been implemented using copper cables, in order to reduce costs other alternatives are being studied and particularly the radio local loop (RLL). We focus on the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) standard to implement an RLL system. The main traffic capacity limiting factor in this system is co-channel interference. We evaluate the effect of applying power control algorithms over an RLL system. It is seen that power control based on C/I is the best choice when applied to both directions. The traffic capacity limitation that was initially due to interference becomes trunk limitation. At this point, access to alternative base stations can offer an extra capacity increase
