Abstract
This paper presents some design considerations for small, flyback transformers used to charge energy storage capacitors from 0.1 to 5 kV from a low voltage DC source. The transformer has two roles: to act as an energy storage device, and to ratio the primary to secondary voltages. The stages in designing a transformer to fulfil these roles are described
