  • Abstract
At first, we analyze the advantages about employing multilevel model in communication research. When it samples from different levels and units, the resultant data will appear stratification. Hierarchical data structure is common in communication studies. Audiences exist within hierarchies tend to be more similar to each other than people randomly sampled from the entire population. Therefore, multilevel modeling becomes necessary. Then we illustrate briefly the form of multilevel models. Multilevel models were developed for the analysis of hierarchically structured data. However, the applications are not yet common in communication analysis in China. It shows great significance to develop our empirical theory based on the actual condition. Finally, we give the key points about the applications of multilevel models in communication research in China.
