Abstract
Smart antennas (SA), which are able to resist intracell interference (MAI), act as the beamforming (BF) in the downlink of a TD-SCDMA system. Conventional single beam BF algorithms aim only at the strongest path, which loses the power diversity in the wireless multipath environment. In this paper, we propose a new beamforming algorithm, the multibeam algorithm, which makes a beam at each tap of the delay. By doing this, we can get diversity gain of different paths. Theory analysis and simulation results are consistent with each other and demonstrate the validity of this new algorithm.
