Abstract
The use of neural networks for radar ship target recognition is discussed. A practical approach to recognizing radar ship targets with similar video echoes while maintaining identification is proposed and simulated. Preprocessing is performed using Fourier-Mellin transform and coding transform, after which the frequencies of occurrence of the specific binary words, such as diagrams and trigrams, are chosen as features. A smaller neural network can be trained to identify the radar ship target by extracted features
