Abstract
A new dual band patch antenna, which is arranged perpendicular to a circular ground plane for wireless local area network (WLAN) is presented. The proposed broadband antenna design consists of U-shaped bridge coaxial probe feed with folded upward patch wall and 4 shorting strips. The achievable bandwidth of the proposed antenna obtained about 22% at the lower frequency band (2.22-2.75 GHz) and about 29% at the higher frequency band (5.06-6.76 GHz) for return loss -10dB, which corresponds to WLAN IEEE802.11a/b/g bands. Good radiation characteristics are obtained within the operating bands. Details of the proposed broadband patch antenna are presented and discussed.
