Abstract
In this paper, the Doppler radar non-contact motion sensing technology has been extended from detecting one-dimensional position change to detecting two-dimensional rotational movement. Simulations based on ray-tracing model have successfully demonstrated that Doppler radar can detect the speed of angular movement such as motor rotation. It has been shown that in non-contact rotational movement measurement, the baseband output will have a fundamental frequency that is twice the frequency of the rotation. This is a significant difference compared to the non-contact measurement of one-dimensional movement.
