Abstract
Prediction of development of the global and European power engineering and hypothetical energy mix in consideration of reducing greenhouse gas emissions is described in the introduction. This article deals with the concept of electricity storage especially in times of surplus electricity. The reason for the construction of these facilities for future energy system is discussed in this article. These devices for accumulating electric energy are and will be needed due to the increasing production of electricity from renewable sources, particularly wind and photovoltaic. A number of accumulation ways of electrical energy is available, but this article is directed to a process accumulation in the form of compressed air. Modifications of compressed air storage systems on a smaller scale than still developed CAES (Compressed Air Energy Storage) system are listed here. The various alternatives are described in more detail in the article.
