Abstract
When installing outdoor surveillance camera systems, a suitable choice and setting of outdoor lighting are important to ensure the right functioning of a camera and a legible and sharp picture. Camera sensitivity is another important factor. It determines the minimal light conditions which are necessary for a camera chip to able to capture video. It is measured in the unit lux [lx]. Standard values of speed of monochrome camera chips are around 0.1 lx and for colour chips around 1 lx. However, it isn´t set anywhere where this value should appear. Speed values of monochrome sensors are one digit place higher than of colour sensors so they are convenient especially for bad light conditions.
