Abstract
It is shown that the ESPIRIT algorithm can be applied to the rotatory scanning of an antenna with the aid of the Fourier transform for estimating both directions of arrival and propagation delay times of indoor multipath waves. In the proposed algorithm, to decorrelate the multipath waves that are highly correlated with each other, one can also employ the conventional spatial smoothing techniques as a preprocessor of the ESPIRIT. The authors believe that the proposed method contributes to implementation of reliable and flexible indoor radio communication systems.<>
