Abstract
T-2 toxin, which belongs to a group of mycotoxins synthesized by Fusarium fungi that are widely encountered as natural contaminants, induced enamel and ameloblasts damage in rats. SD rats were randomly divided into three groups and received gavages containing T-2 toxin in a dosage of 0, 100, and 200ng/g b.w., respectively. After 4 weeks, all rats were killed, serial sections along the long axis and HE method was used to stain ameloblast. In visual inspection, incisor color changed into faint yellow, part region showed light-proof and the tooth surface was a little rough in the poisoned groups. Under the Microscope, Tome´s process of the ameloblasts disappeared and distorted and vacuolated ameloblasts existed in poisoned groups. The high-dose T-2 toxin group was more serious. This is the first report that T-2 toxin affects the cell morphology of ameloblasts and induces the appearance changes in tooth organ.
