Abstract
A survey of evolutionary developments in antenna structural engineering is presented. Particular attention is given to the STAIR program developed for the analysis of the 120-ft Haystack antenna; Von Hoerner´s advocacy of homology; site winds and antenna wind loading; and a temperature-measurement program consisting of 34 thermocouples installed on the 210-ft Australian CSIRO antenna.<>
