Abstract
The authors propose two new indexes for time-domain analysis of heart rate variability (HRV): the interquartile range of RR (IRRR) and the median of the absolute differences of RR (MADRR). The IRRR index correlates well with the standard deviation (SD) and it is very robust to artifacts in the RR series. The MADRR index correlates well with the pNN50 index, it is robust to artifacts and it does not saturate when vagal activity is high or low. Both indexes are useful for HRV analysis of ambulatory recordings
