Abstract
The authors examine a 2-D structure involving dielectric loads and illuminated by a TM (transverse magnetic) plane wave. The electromagnetic fields are modeled using an integral representation based on the Green´s function of the grounded dielectric slab. The associated integral equations are solved by means of a moment method and provide the values of the polarization currents inside the load. The reflection coefficient of the structure is obtained and analyzed as a function of the geometrical and electromagnetic parameters of the loaded slab and those of the incident wave. One possible application is the characterization of radar absorbing materials.<>
