  • Abstract
    Extensive research has been conducted towards the development of highly reliable, long life, maintenance free nickel-cadmium batteries for advanced aircraft. Product designs, designated aircraft maintenance free battery (AMFB), have been developed for specific aircraft applications. The AMFB reduces life cycle costs by eliminating scheduled maintenance required by conventional Ni-Cd batteries. This paper discusses AMFB design evolution, technology validation tests, and charging considerations
