Abstract
A numerical solution method for transition problems in three-dimensional optical waveguides is developed, using periodic boundary conditions and a double Fourier series expansion technique. Numerical examples are presented for the mode propagation of a circular optical fiber and the radiation loss of the optical fiber splice with a radial offset
