  • Abstract
The operating environment for small Synchronous Generators (SG) of less than 5MW is becoming increasingly demanding. This paper discusses present difficulties and highlights some of the future challenges for small Embedded Synchronous Generators. The paper outlines reasons why generator manufacturers need to enhance their design capability to help develop reliable products. A new design tool known as CyberGen is discussed as part of a wider strategy for capability enhancement. A case study is provided and calculations compared with measurement.
