  • Abstract
A new, effective multiple access protocol of the demand assignment multiple access kind is proposed for bus LANs. The fundamental problem of multiple access is to decide, how to share the time-frequency space among multiple co-located users of the network. The protocol´s performance is analysed by applying equilibrium point analysis over the mathematical model of the protocol developed. The protocol adopts a new concept of frequency multiplexing the channel among groups of stations of the network. This new multiple channel concept yields improved results of high throughput and less packet delay compared to single channel systems adopting contention-prone MAC protocols like Ethernet or contention-free DAMA protocols. The protocol is simulated and simulation results agree closely to the analytical results, obtained by applying equilibrium point analysis. The protocol is tested for its stability also
