Abstract
This paper reports on the modeling and analysis procedure, as well as the results obtained for a magnetostatic analysis of a 250 kW, 270 VDC, switched reluctance (SR) machine. The purpose is threefold. The first is to describe the method for accurately modeling an SR machine using the boundary element method (BEM) of analysis. The second is to determine the phase inductances of the machine at operating conditions. The third is to determine the effects of operating with a set of unexcited phase windings. The results of this analysis are compared with measured laboratory values
