Abstract
The following paper describes a response to the problem of incident detection in urban networks developed at TRL. INGRID (integrated incident detection) is a computer program for the automatic detection of traffic incidents in urban areas with traffic light systems controlled by the urban adaptive traffic control system SCOOT. In addition to the current version of INGRID, this paper also describes further developments to INGRID which will enhance its functionality in the overall SCOOT-ASTRID-INGRID system
