Abstract
Summary form only given. Gyroklystrons have received a great deal of attention in recent years for a variety of mm-wave applications. In this paper, we present a preliminary design of a Ka-band second harmonic, three cavities gyroklystron amplifier with all cavities operating in the high order TE021 mode. The results show that our gyroklystron at 35 GHz can produce an output peak power of over 250 kW with 22 dB gain, 23% maximum efficiency and a 3-dB bandwidth of more than 100 MHz.
