  • Abstract
Vehicles that can communicate with one another is very desirable for information dissemination, content delivery and safety application. Vehicle manufacturers already use computers and software for engine control and in-car systems, so adding network communication equipment will not be a challenge. The major challenge of producing vehicles which can communicate and share information is the harsh environment that vehicles operate in. Highway environments and velocities allow for only short link times (when two vehicles are in range of one another) and high levels of interference. This results in a requirement to adapt the networking protocols and mechanisms to ensure transmission is possible and useful. In this work we present a simulation system that can be used to model and adapt the network and mobility protocols, and achieve results for analysis of the network efficiency. Using a parallel parameter search methodology that scales to many processors we can simulate larger network and achieve full results in much less time than if it was run on a serial processor.
