After careful and considered review of the content of this paper by a duly constituted expert committee, this paper has been found to be in violation of IEEE´s Publication Principles.
We hereby retract the content of this paper. Reasonable effort should be made to remove all past references to this paper.

This paper intends to build the connection between cultural vitality and urban landscape theme. Through theoretical analysis and specific examples, we discuss the effects of three important cultural vitality elements on driving urban landscape theme, including events and stories, media of image, old and new forms. The results show that these cultural vitality elements not only work alone, but also combine with each other, to guide and improve the expression of urban landscape theme.
