Abstract
We investigate surface plasmon polariton waves on the semi-infinite and multilayered interfaces of metals or metamaterials with optically active dielectrics. Such surface waves consist of two partial components with different polarization and localization. Propagation constant, localization coefficients and polarization of surface waves were calculated in the linear approximation that can be used in the cases of weak gyrotropy. Plasmon polariton waves on the interfaces with stronger gyrotropy were investigated numerically. We found out that there is a critical value of gyrotropic coefficient above which there are no localized surface waves on the interface.
