Abstract
This paper presents the experimental analysis to know the characteristics of ultraprecision machining with high precision diamond turning process and its application to high precision parts manufacturing of linear accelerator. The cutting force, surface roughness and form accuracy was measured to evaluate the effect of cutting conditions. An experimental setup for tooling and metrology to observe the machinability of oxygen free copper and diamond turning was investigated in this study. The ultraprecision machining technology based on the obtained observations and experimental results in this study was applied to a anode and cavity machining and development of Klystron amplifier tube of Linear Accelerator of Pohang Light Source in Korea. The developed machining and measurement technology can be further applied to various ultraprecision part & mold and micro part manufacturing fields.
