Abstract
The novel feature in the distributed Web caching system we developed is that every client node could act as a cache server and share its cache with neighboring nodes. We show that within a particular cache, the maximum inter-arrival time between two consecutive requests for a document without a cache miss increases due to distributed Web caching hence reducing the miss rate. We also show that the system always speeds up compared to uncooperative caching.
