  • Abstract
With the rapid development of mobile networking and device capability, energy efficiency becomes an important design consideration due to the limited battery life of mobile terminals. Processing energy cost by CPU is one of the most significant power consuming components in mobile terminals. The emergence of mobile cloud computing (MCC) provides the opportunity to save processing energy through the way of offloading computation tasks to remote server(s). In recent years, considerable research has been devoted to computation offloading to achieve energy efficiency. This paper presents a comprehensive summary of recent work, investigates representative infrastructure of computation offloading, and analyzes key components and future design trends of energy efficient mobile applications.
